Week134 - 3May 2004

This week..

Planning Meeting

A very productive meeting with a very sensible planning officer suggests that I do not need planning permission to convert the workshop to a flat - just written permission. Hopefully there will be good news shortly.

Staircase finished.

The final skirting is fitted to the landing & stairs.

Hall Cupboard

There was no intention originally to make a cupboard in the hall. Our original intention was to box in the UFH manifold and put coat hooks & perhaps a shelf. We then realised that a cupboard would save all the trouble of boxing, provide storage for ironing boards, wellies etc etc. We also had a pair of doors which were now surplus to requirements from Mum's lounge cupboard.
I set to work....
First the CLS frame & shelf battens
for the shelf I used some T&G Oak flooring

lastly the MDF panels

BT's Home Highway ISDN - Conclusion!

You will recall the on-going major dispute with BT (see Week 111 and all weeks since). It has been unusable since May 2003!

The new software works and BT have agreed to meet all my compensation claims in full. It has taken far too long and consumed an inordinate amount of my time. No one wins in a situation like this but at least in the end BT have done the honourable thing & admitted their error.

From the Archives....

So we don't forget what we have achieved here is a quick look at what we were doing one and two years ago.

Two years ago ( Week 30 ) work continues on the flint work & roof trusses
One year ago,  (Week 82 ). I begin laying the oak flooring - one of my favourite & most rewarding jobs (particularly as it would have cost £35-£50 sq/m if I had someone else do it!).
