Week20 - 25Feb 2002

Final preparations of the walls before the major brick laying starts next week.

Steve builds the below floor elements of the two fireplaces..
the twin 6" air pipes draw air from the wall cavity, into the air void, over the dwarf wall into the ash pit.
The blocks are laid on the beams.
Our first floor
The front and rear wall will be partially flint. This makes them thicker than normal: a normal 100mm inner block wall, a 65mm cavity, another 100mm block wall and then the outer "layer" either brick or flint.
The kitchen!
All the block & beam floors require under-floor ventilation, roughly one of these every metre.

Next week you will see very big changes. I am looking at them as I type!
