Week99 - 1Sep03

This week, contrary to the plan, we decide to completely finish some downstairs areas:

  • Stairs in the hall
  • Curtains & blinds in the Kitchen
  • Curtains in the Lounge
  • Helen's bedroom
  • and some 2nd fixing in the Dining Room

(All pictures are thumbnails, just click on the picture to see it full-size, click Back to return here)

First the downstairs hall:

With the hall floor complete...

I can fit the final stair spindles.

Soft Furnishing for Kitchen & Lounge

Bev has always been a fan of Laura Ashley. We therefore decided to make use of their design service. We chose the option of having 3 rooms designed for 200 - this is refunded if you spend over 2,000. We managed that with no problems!

We were impressed. Our personal designer (Mark Taylor) visited some months ago (when the rooms were a tip!) with a mass of samples and spent 3 hours with us. The plan he produced covered furniture, pictures, mirrors, lights curtains and blinds etc etc! We were under no obligation to buy any but in fact chose 90% of his recommendations. They have all started arriving so this week we decided to start fitting them...

The Kitchen

First the small kitchen windows...

have their Roman blinds

The french doors have conventional curtains

The Lounge

Curtains for the small windows..

and for the main Bow windows.

And also..

Helen's bedroom is completed.

Skirting fitting begns in the Dining Room.

Velux Window Problem

One of the Velux windows on the 2nd floor has developed a large crack in the glass. Problem reported to Ridgeons. I will keep you advised.

Plan for next week:

  • Continue work on the Dining Room
  • Ice Energy (Heat pump suppliers) visit to check on the system
  • Play golf (It was cancelled last week!)
